What is Scrip?
Scrip is a type of gift certificate and gift card offered through the Great Lakes Scrip Center (www.glscrip.com) (GLSC) as a fundraising opportunity for nonprofit organizations. The GLSC purchases Scrip at discount rates from grocery chains, restaurants, and retail, drug, department and specialty outlets all over the United States. We have compiled a list of local merchants, however go to www.glscrip.com for additional merchants available nationwide. Participating nonprofit organizations, in turn, may resell the Scrip at face value, and the GLSC passes on a percentage of their discount to the organization. Merchants and percentages change periodically so check the Rawlinson Band Website at www.rawlinsonmusiclovers.com for updates to the available merchants list throughout the year.

What makes Scrip an easy way to raise funds?
Scrip is an easy way to raise funds because, ultimately, it costs you nothing more than you would already spend in your community on groceries, clothing, restaurant dining, books, movie rentals, gasoline, automotive services, home improvement supplies, etc. Spending this money with your favorite merchants through the Scrip program, however, allows the merchants to support the Rawlinson Band program. To raise even more funds for our band program, you may want to persuade a group of family members and friends to order Scrip from your student on a regular basis. Most Scrip can be used for the purchase of any merchandise at the selected merchant, and they make great holiday and birthday gifts, too!

How can the Scrip program help the Rawlinson Band?
The denominations available vary by merchant, as do the percentages of the face value that can be earned with each purchase.

For example:
A Scrip for: At an assigned % of: Earns:
HEB $25 3% $0.75
Borders $10 8% $0.80
Bath & Body $20 13% $2.60

When are Scrip orders due?
Scrip orders are placed monthly. During the school year, orders and full payment are due by the first school day of each month. Orders will continue during June, July and August to enable students to raise money for the Rawlinson Band during the summer.

Due dates are as follows:

During the school year, simply place your completed Scrip order form and full payment (checks made payable to Rawlinson Music Lovers) in an envelope labeled with your name and your student's name and "Scrip," and drop it in the box in the band director’s office. Orders must be placed in the office no later than 2 p.m. on the due date. Orders received after the due date and/or time will be placed with the following month's order.

How long will it take to receive my Scrip order?

Scrip orders usually arrive three to four business days after the order date. When they arrive, you will be contacted to arrange for pick up. Due to the risk of loss or theft with cards and certificates of cash value, we will not send Scrips home with students.
